Noir I

Reminds me of Caravaggio. Chiaroscuro, quiet and romanticized faces, but powerful imagery, even the compositions. Except, Caravaggio had the figures in his paintings acting more dramatically, as opposed to just standing there. Here, i do get a since of pieta even though characters are not the same. Good use of light. Good background. Many "out in the woods" photographs do not work well, simply because people photograph the forest instead of using the forest as a background and as a setting, like you have so wonderfully done here.

I just wish there was more commentary about the storyline of the photograph, what was going through your mind. Many artists these days just post a photo and leave it at that. I find it really impersonal and disappointing. I think that it is important to give commentary to a photo instead of relying on the viewers insight. You should want to guide them in the right direction or else they will aimless wander around, looking for inferences out of nothing. However, that is just my personal opinion aside from the crit, and it will not be added into the final rating.

Retouching looks good. I am curious to see it up close, but far away, it looks good. The male looks edited very perfectly, questionably too much, but to the point that he looks innocent with perfect skin of a baby. So it works. I fear for his life, haha.

I can see the tree in the background with the same angle as the man's body. Either a happy mistake or you have an excellent eye. Either way, I commend you on this.
